Overall, the tour was interesting and a good learning experience. The start, right at the base of the dam was quite an experience. A quick stop half way through allowed us to get close to native american art on the walls of the canyon. We didn't get to see the famous "mountain goats" as much as we stretched our necks up and down the high walls of the canyon. In the end, the wass about 30-45 minutes longer than it needed to be (after we passed through the Horseshoe Bend, it all became a bit repetitive)
Horseshoe Bend from the water level |
By the time we got bussed back to Page, it was well beyond lunch time. Grabbed a quick bite, then off to the top of the Horseshoe bend, this time for a quick peak from above. It’s also on Navajo lands, so a separate entry fee is required. Tip #13: considering each national park charges an admission fee, you’re better of buying a yearly pass (it’s called America the Beautiful and only costs $80). We visited (Zion, Bryce, Arches, Canyonlands, Glen Canyon, and could have stopped in Capito Reef as well). At $35 a pop, we saved over $100!
